Cabenuva is a complete long-acting antiretroviral treatment for HIV-1 infection. It combines cabotegravir, an integrase strand transfer inhibitor, with rilpivirine, a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor. It is used to replace an existing HIV treatment regimen in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older who weigh at least 35 kg, are virologically suppressed on a stable antiretroviral regimen, have no history of treatment failure, and have no known or suspected resistance to either medicine. Cabenuva is administered as intramuscular injections by a healthcare professional and can be given monthly or every two months.
